30 September 2000 - Olympic Regatta

The final days sailing in the Star class saw the fleet leader from Brazil disqualified at the start, leaving the Brits and Americans to fight over gold. After a poor first half to the race Ian and Mark started pulling through the fleet, but were unable to catch the Americans and hence finished in silver medal position. An excellent result in a very competitive fleet.

29 September 2000 - Olympic Regatta

With one day and one race remaining in the Olympic Regatta the GB Star team of Ian Walker & Mark Covell are overall 2nd in this very competitive fleet. With Brazil 1st and USA 3rd the medals are between these 3 teams, and the possible permutations are huge, but Ian & Mark need to finish 6 places ahead of the Brazilians to get their hands on a gold medal, and should the Brazilians finish in the top 5 they will win gold however the Brits fare. An exciting race awaits.
