29 September 2000 - Olympic Regatta
In the final race today Shirley Robertson needed to finish 4th or better to be certain of claiming the gold medal. Although the positions fluctuated and her main rival from the Netherlands went into the lead, Shirley climbed to 3rd place, and won the first British sailing gold medal of the Olympics. 21 September 2000 - Olympic Regatta Shirley Robertson really has started this event in the best possible manner. Leading overall after 4 races Shirley has a 15 point lead over 2nd place Kristine Roug of Denmark. However when the series gets going again on Saturday and the discard kicks in the gap will narrow, but for now Shirley remains the competitor to beat and is in a strong position to finally get the medal she deserves.
January 2000 - Europe Worlds
Shirley Robertson again showed her medal potential by finishing 2nd at the last world championships before the Sydney Olympics.
Shirley Robertson continues to provide the only real British hope for success in the class by claimimg 3rd overall at the Pre-Olympic Regatta in Sydney.
