29 September 2000 - Olympic Regatta

In the final race today Shirley Robertson needed to finish 4th or better to be certain of claiming the gold medal. Although the positions fluctuated and her main rival from the Netherlands went into the lead, Shirley climbed to 3rd place, and won the first British sailing gold medal of the Olympics.
A fine performance has seen Shirley improve from 4th at the Atlanta games and 9th four years before to take the ultimate prize of a Gold Medal.

21 September 2000 - Olympic Regatta

Shirley Robertson really has started this event in the best possible manner. Leading overall after 4 races Shirley has a 15 point lead over 2nd place Kristine Roug of Denmark. However when the series gets going again on Saturday and the discard kicks in the gap will narrow, but for now Shirley remains the competitor to beat and is in a strong position to finally get the medal she deserves.

January 2000 - Europe Worlds

Shirley Robertson again showed her medal potential by finishing 2nd at the last world championships before the Sydney Olympics.
This result together with her 2nd at the Hayling Island European Championship last year has made her the first to qualify for the British Sydney 2000 team.
This gives Shirley a good period of preparation before the event which should surely enhance her medal winning prospects.
