There are a number of freebies available to sailors on the internet, all the best and most useful have been collated on this page, some will require you to visit other sites and some will download direct from here.

UK Dinghy Racing Screensavers
This is a screensaver I have made with a few slightly 'altered images' takes about 7mins to download on a 56k connection. Save it and then click on the exe file to automatically install, you can change the speed at which the images change and the way they change too.

Screensaver number 2 consists of actual photos of dinghies in action.

Trim Track
Trim Track is an interesting new piece of computer software that will help you find and remember those critical trim settings.
TrimTrack will take away a lot of 'guesswork' when it comes to trimming. You'll never forget these 'once-in-a-lifetime' trim settings anymore.
But, be warned, to get the most out of TrimTrack, a lot of discipline is needed. Over time you will need to record the trim settings obtained from sailing races or trim trials with sparring partners. Only a "well filled" database of trim settings will produce the results you strive for.
Currently 30.4.2002 this software is available on a free 30 day trial, if you continue to use it after this time you will need to purchase a licence.

LLYR
LLYR the maritime multimedia production company offer free downloads of video race reports from the latest events.

With many months of Americas Cup action to come this screensaver will probably just remind us the Brits didn't enter.

Written by Colin Jenkins Sailwave is a race results programme.
Now free to all users, and updated for the 2001-2004 racing rules. Click on the link below for more details and to access the .exe file.

MultiSurf 3d Design Software
You can download a 30 day trial of this design software, get tutorials and demonstratios too.
Seems to me like the best way to eveluate any software before buying.

Carlson Design
Not free but Shareware this one. A 3D sail visualization and design programme.
Try it before you buy. Follow the link and view the options, remember if you choose to use the programme after evaluation you must pay the registration fee.

Carlson Design
Hull designer - a simple free 3D hull design programme.
Runs in Windows and contains some sample designs.

Hullform 6S
A freeware DOS based hull design programme.
Newer Windows based programmes are available for a fee, but this one is free.

Sailing Results Programme
This DOS based programme will run on all current Windows machines.
Uses the Portsmouth Yardstick system.

Sailcut CAD
Sail design and plot packages by Robert Lainé.
2 programmes for Classical Sails and Spinnakers.
Free downloads to evaluate the software.

Virtual Sailor 4
Not a free programme, but a free downloadable demo is available of this sailing simulator.

Auto Tide
Gives global tidal predictions, free evaluation copy for Windows.

Screensavers
Free screensaver from UK Sailmakers of Detroit.
