Red Bull Tide Ride 2002 Oct 4-6th 2002
|
Hayling Island will once again play host to some of the best sailors in the UK,
in a unique sailing event on 4-6 October when the tide is expected to be at its
most extreme. Red Bull Tide Ride is the first competition of its kind to involve
four classes of skiff boats in an elimination slalom regatta over short courses. Due to ideal tidal conditions at Hayling Island at this time of year, the course
will be located very close to the shore giving spectators the rare opportunity
to appreciate the extremity and excitement of this type of skiff racing.
The race will be restricted to four classes of asymmetric skiffs; B14's,
International 14's, 49er's and RS800's with cash prizes being awarded within
each class. The first heat kicks off with the 49er's on Friday morning and
continues throughout the weekend. It will culminate in a thrilling four boat
final on Sunday for each class, where competitors will have the opportunity to
enjoy 'crash and burn' style racing!
Red Bull Tide Ride is being held in association with Hayling Island Sailing Club
for the second year running. Entry is limited to forty boats per class, with
fantastic cash prizes up for grabs.
If you want to take part or simply want to come along to check out the action,
more information can be found on the website
www.redbulltideride.co.uk or by
contacting Tim Hancock at Hayling Island Sailing Club on 02392 463768.
