UK Dinghy Racing
Newsletter No 5
______________

This is the fifth issue of the Newsletter and I hope to produce one a month, with possible extra issuse during the summer when there is more sailing activity.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both the Newsletter and the site are non commercial, I do this as a hobby in the evenings and weekends.

The aim of the site is to entertain like minded people who have a passion for dinghy racing or sailing. I have tried to keep the site as specific as possible, ie UK not worldwide although the info and chat may be of interest to many. The listings of Sailing Clubs and Class Associations are purely British so there are no hugh lists of useless links to try and find one useful one.

On the question of links I have spent many hours searching for the UK sites but am sure I have missed some, so if you find any relevant ones please send them to me.

Fantasy Sailing Championships

__________________________

The results so far are still pretty patchy with only three events having confirmed results, ie published in Yachts and Yachting as stated in the rules.
The result is only two helms have scored points and four teams are tied on 7 pts. For the full table visit the results page on the site

http://www.dingyrac.force9.co.uk/fant/fentents.htm

Word is however getting through of the final placings in many more events and the next month will see some very different leaders.

Provisionally, and not yet included in the Fantasy Champs, I hear Ben Ainsley has won the Laser Nationals, many of the fancied helms were in the top 6 at the Fireball Nationals, and for those interested here are the Int 14 week and Prince of Wales race results:

Anyway enough about Fantasy Sailing for this month, as the results come in I will produce more newslatters with updates.

New Web Sites
_____________

At last some of the major dinghy manufacturers seem to have discovered the Internet.
A few months ago Topper International opened a web site

toppersailboats.com/

and most recently The Laser Centre have opened a site

www.lasersailing.com

This site promises up to date reports on Championships, with daily news and placings. Lets hope they can keep it up, as there is no doubt that this sort of service takes time and money, best of luck to them.

You will also find a number of additions to the listings of club sites and class associations on the UK Dinghy Racing site. Rather than list them all here may I suggest you visit the lists and explore then yourself.
As allways if you know of and sites I appear to be missing please send an email with their URL and they will be added.

Enterprise Sailing
_______________

As usual I have had a lot of mail from around the world this month. One particular request comes from India, and asks about Enterprise results.

I have been able to provide Nationals results curtosy of Y&Y but they would like daily results from the Worlds to be held in Ireland this month, and if possible a short report. This will then be published in The Times of India and other daily papers, what price publicity hey?

Well the truth of the matter is that to my knowledge, and according to the search engines the Enterprise class does not have a web site and I cannot put the Indians in touch with anybody.

So here is the request. Do you know anybody going to the Enterprise Worlds who has a laptop or somebody over there who could send them the results. Perhaps you know somebody in the class association who would like to follow this up?
Send me an email and I will put you in touch with the relevant people.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Results
______

If you would like results from your championships or club opens published on the site please email them to me and I will put up a page for them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thats all for now, more Fantasy Sailing Results in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile keep the mail coming in.
Good sailing to you all.
