1.Guest Article by Robert Williams
I am always pleased to receive the newsletters, they hold a lot of useful info.
I was particularly interested in the article by David Brann on the R.N.L.I. I have been suppoting them now for a number of years with a convenant, but at the Boat and Caravan Exhibition recently at the N.E.C. I met up with a lady who is trying to raise money for the R.N.L.I. by carrying out a sponsored walk from Poole in Dorset to Llandudno in North Wales, visiting on the way 50 R.N.L.I. stations. It is a walk of 900 miles and she is doing it through April to July. If anyone is interested in sponsoring her I can be contacted for more info, or you can write to her direct.
She is Jill Follett, 88 Wentworth Road, Harborne, Birmingham,
B17 9SY.
Let's see if we can boost her input to this very worthy cause.

2.Olympic Sailing
Well by the time you read this the Olympic trials will be well and truely over. Rather extended this year the 470's and Tornado classes have carried on their trials after Weymouth.
I do not wish to get into a debate over the selection process, although I would be keen to hear others comments. Suffice to say I was very pleased that Ian Barker and Simon Hiscocks were selected in a very competitive 49er class.
I used to know Ian when he was a young Enterprise sailor at Penarth YC, I couldn't get near him then, and he has continued to show exceptional speed in Enterprise's and 505's.
Good luck to all the team, my only sadness is that we will not have a Team GBR representative in the Womens 470, I have no doubt that there is loads of talent out there, so lets start preparing for 2004 now, Rodney Patterson used to say it took 4-6 years to build an effective Olympic campaign, and who would argue with him.

3.Super Thin Wetsuits
Coming from a newish company in North Devon, Reed Chill Cheater Ltd, are the thinnist wetsuits you can imagine.
I have tried one of these, and for spring, summer sailing they are excellent. Worn under a spray top, or as an insulating layer these breathable garments will give warmth without reducing your freedom of movement.
Prices are extremely good, so visit the web site www.chillcheater.com www.chillcheater.com for more details and to see the benefits.
Please mention UK Dinghy Racing when you speak to them.
