 ENTRANCE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FINDHORN BAY
The Findhorn Passage:-
Vessels drawing up to 1.5 metres can enter the bay at half tide when there is just sufficient water at the shallowest part on the entrance by the outer scaup. Yachts drawing two metres can enter when the red on the tide gauge is covered. This can be confirmed by viewing the tide gauge on the outer pole which is visible through binoculars from the red and white landfall buoy. Yachts awaiting water can anchor here where the holding is good. On passing the outer bar buoy yachts should make up towards the outer scaup buoy where soundings increase after crossing the bar. On rounding the outer scaup buoy keep three boat lengths off the marker poles which are located on the sandbanks or one boat length off the buoys which are on the edge of the channel. Anchorage:- There is one visitor mooring and usually a free local mooring can be found. The anchorage area is south of the moorings at the Sturdy Buoy down to the twin piers where 3 metres at LWS is available and the holding is sand. Facilities;- There is water and electricity at the north pier which dries. Use the south side of the pier. The Royal Findhorn Yacht Club is available for showers and has a restaurant and bar. Tidal Const:- High Water Aberdeen minus 1hr.40 mins. Dover plus 1hr.00 mins. Sp./Np. Range 3.9 metres / 1.5 metres.
