Falcon Championships 16th & 17th September 2000 The Millenium Falcon Championships, originally planned for SCYC Abersoch but re-scheduled at very short notice due the petrol shortage, where held in tidal waters at Dee SC. 20 boats took part in the 2 day event over the week-end of the 16th & 17th September in brisk conditions ranging from a force 5 on the Saturday, particularly on the ebb with wind over tide, but easing to a force 4 on the Sunday. 3 races where sailed on each day, with extremely close competition through-out the fleet. Overall victory by a narrow margin of a single point saw Harrier retain the trophy following a fierce challenge from Hawkwind. Results and positions:-
1st 37 Harrier Mike Hartley helm, Georgie Dewar and Mark Hinton crew. The photographs taken by Roger Sanders (roger@rogersanders.co.uk) show Mike and crew, with an indication of the closely fought encounter between Harrier (37) and Hawkwind (55), plus the hectic competition throughout the fleet. Many thanks to all involved in the organisation and support activities from all competitors.
